This page describes what actually happens on this site, not what a generic policy says might happen.

If you only look around

Page views are counted on our own server. Your address and browser are combined with a secret and the date into a one-way hash, so we can tell two views apart without being able to work backwards to you, and yesterday's hash does not match today's. There is no advertising network, no third-party analytics, and no tracking cookie.

If you write to us

The contact form keeps your name, email, message, the page you wrote from and your address, so we can answer and so we can spot abuse. Nothing is passed to anybody else.

If you buy something

We keep your email, what you bought, what it cost and when you downloaded it - that is the receipt and the licence, and we are obliged to keep it. Card details never reach this site: they are entered on the payment provider's own page, and we receive only a reference and the outcome.

Cookies

Two, both necessary: one keeps you signed in, one protects forms from being submitted by another site on your behalf. Your basket is kept in your own browser's storage, not sent to us until you check out.
